A small village near Castel Bolognese.
Explaination: Borello is a small centre with a modest church and a small agglomerate of houses near the Rio Sanguinario, although findings of crafted flint stones and ceramics are proof of its existence even in prehistoric times. Today under the province of Ravenna, until the 13th and 14th centuries Borello was part of the territory of Imola. It has never been a rillevant village; but is remembered as an estate between the 13th and 14th centuries, then as a villa in the 15th-16th centuries and finally became rural territory under the municipality of Castel Bolognese in the centuries that followed. The parish church dates back to 1455, but was destroyed during the encampment of the war front on the Senio river. The current church of San Cristoforo was rebuilt after the Liberation. The cemetery is located near the church. On the corner between via Rio Sanguinario and via De Cane, not far from the parish church, there is a small oratory built in 1691 dedicated to Sant’Antonio of Padova.
