Description: Villa Vezzano was the cradle of the famous Naldi family. The Naldi family, came to Italy with the emperor Otto III (996), and were named the Gentlemen of Vezzano, a place between Castelbolognes and Brisighella where they built a castle. The Naldi family then moved to Brisighella, and became famous in the XVI and XVII for their predisposition to the art of war, and offered their services to various Princes.
Today only a few traces of the walls belonging to the old castle which rose up steeply on a high plain on the river Sintria, are left. Worth mentioning is the little church Chiesetta di Villa Vezzano or San Giorgio in Vezzano, as also for the little town which dates back to 1296.
From Villa Vezzano, you can see the remains of one of the many towers erected in the XV century for defensive reasons: the Torre del Marino. Next to tower there is a wonderful Farm Inn, ideal for a stay or for tasting local cuisine.
Additional notes: Villa Vezzano is located at about 12 km. from Brisighella along the provincial road that goes to Riolo Terme.
