Description: The first documentation regarding this village dates back to June 1047, when in a writing found in the Imola Monestry of S. Maria in Regola appears an Arardus filius Guidonis de Baffadi. The Baffadi Castle is documented later in 1094 in a lease as Castro Bafati. The Church S. Maria is documentated for the first time in 1325 as part of the Monte Mauro parish, inXV1 it became part of the vicarship of Valsenio before itself becoming the centre of a vicarship in the following century. It was destroyed in an earthquake in 1725, and was subsequently restored on the original site. During the events of the late medieval years the Castle fell into the hands of Imola then Faenza. It is not known when it was destroyed.
