Itinerary details: At Fognano park the car in front of the Chiesa Arcipretale and continue on foot along the Vicolo Casette. At the top of the incline there is a fork in the road where you go left on an unpaved road. After a few hundred metres, the incline begins. Keep right until Casa Ramona, Dorile di Sotto, Dorile di Sopra. After the tower you will arrive at a paved road and you continue left until a fork in the road where the decline towards Fognano begins. After 300 m., on the right there is a stone house near where you leave the paved road for an unpaved road on the left at the beginning of the pine grove. The road, which in some places is covered with gravel, passes near Monte Bitella and Cannello, descends to Fiene, and then to Fognano along the Rio Bagno.
Additional information: Just under the tower is a good example of a large landslide caused by the detachment and successive sliding of large, layered, rocky masses, caused by the infiltration of water and the erosion of riverbeds. The name “La Torretta” perfectly reflects the appearance of this house, an old watchtower constructed of sandstone probably in the 15th century not too far from the ancient Castle of Fognano (12th century). It is difficult to identify the original structure due to the modifications and additions that have led to the current house.
Itinerary:The hike takes 2 hours.
