Itinerary details: The hike starts from the church in Rivacciola located on the SS 306 which goes from Casola Valsenio to Palazzuolo. Take the trail CAI 625 which goes up the hill behind the church and crosses the evergreens and chestnut grove, until an area of fenced pasture. Going up along the ridge, at a height of 518 m., you will arrive at a house next to the remains of the Chapel of San Giacomo. After a few meters, leave the CAI trail and on its left, take the mule track which leads to another dilapidated house near a knoll turned into a shelter for livestock. From here the descent towards the river at the bottom of the valley begins. The trail is not always well marked and follows the river which you can cross in more than one point until the town of Mercantale. From here, taking the SS 306 for abut 500 m., you will again find the church of Rivacciola.
