In the heart of the Chalk Vein between the Savena and Senio valleys, the territory is full of caves and gorges that were the main elements ever since pre-historical and protostorical times, with a variety of different landscapes and unmatchable geological and environmental features. These places are ideal for the study of the environment and the animals of prehistorical times and the evolution of man and offer an itinerary for the discovery of the territory, of lost environments and the origin of man. The itinerary lasts one day and takes us on the evolution trail of our species through guided tours and experiments with the aid of archaeological technicians in the fascinating backdrop of the "Luigi Donini" Museum of Prehistory in San Lazzaro di Savena. At Riolo Terme in the suggestive Halls of the Rocca di Riolo is the Museum of the Landscapes of the Apennines of Faenza, where you can see the complexity of the archaeologist’s work through laboratory digs in the discovery of the human skeleton.
