Pergola

Municipalities: Municipalities:Faenza
Tourist offices: I.A.T. Faenza

Itinerary details: We exit Faenza towards west, along the long and straight Via S. Orsola that can be taken in many ways (the easiest being from the "Graziola" avenue, following the signs for the new Palasport "Cattani" – Sports Centre). Via S.Orsola has no traffic and leads to Via Celle where we turn left to the small church of the same name. Then turn right for around one hundred metres and take the first street on the left – Via Pergola – that goes softly uphill to a crossroads with devotional pillar, where we go left over the peak of the hill. After a momentary downhill piece we go back uphill and, near the well visible electrical cabin, we go uphill to the left along a very steep road that after a curve brings us to the cemetery and the small church of Pergola, in a beautiful position on a mound lined with pine trees and oaks. The road grazing the building on the left hand side, under the old containment wall (of a natural grassy foundation and accessible by mountain bike or city bike in normal conditions) leads to the ex school, today a restaurant. Turn left here for the very panoramic Via Mercanta that goes downhill to the bottom of the valley. By turning left we end up back in Celle, or right along Via Ospitalacci to the Bocche dei Canali and Faenza.
Itinerary: The itinerary starts from Faenza on a “normal” bike or mountain bike. It is easy and not tiring, accessible for all.
