Historic building was home of the writer A. Oriani. was founded in the X century.

Explaination: Il Cardello situated by the SS 306, about 600 meters from Valsenio Abbey, is the building where the writer Alfredo Oriani spent most of his life. The building originally housed the guest quarters of the Valsenio Abbey (about X century), only part of its original character remains as it was heavily altered in 1926.Inside the house, the typical bourgeois Romagna style furnishings and fittings are still preserved. Part of the author’s personal library can still be seen.

Additional notes: Il Cardello is surrounded by a lush beautiful park with century-old plants. The tomb of writer Alfredo Oriani is inside the park. Il Cardello and the surrounding land is currently the property of the Casa Oriani Foundation.

Opening hours:

Weekdays: Available for visits every day for groups of a minimum of 15 people from April to October.

Sundays and public holidays: Available for visits every Sunday from April to October at the following times: from 10:00am to 12:00pm and from 2:30pm to 6:30pm. Also open every Friday in the months of July and August from 4.30 pm to 6.30 pm.


Rate:

Entrance fee: 3.00 euros

Group discounts: 1.50 euros for groups of at least 15 people.

Free admission: School students and children up to 14 years of age.


Directions: Il Cardello is situated about 2 km from Casola Valsenio and about 600 metres from Valsenio Abbey. From the North: Leave the motorway at the exit for Imola, and take the Via Emilia towards Rimini until Castel Bolognese. From here follow the SS 306 for Casola Valsenio. From the South: Leave the motorway at the exit for Faenza, and take the via Emilia towards Bologna until Castel Bolognese. From here follow the SS 306 for Casola Valsenio.
