Description: The Chalk Vein is geological conformation with Karst characteristics. Among the numerous grottoes that of King Tiberius is particularly interesting. According to legend King Tiberius sought refuge in the grotto from a thunderbolt but this did not help him, one day when the sky was once again calm and Tiberius left the grotto he was struck by a thunderbolt and died.
Additional information: In the grotto which is 300 meters long, traces of the presence of prehistoric human beings are to be found.
Directions: Leaving from Riolo Terme, take the SS 306 towards Casola Valsenio After about 1 km at Borgo Rivola on the left is a sign that says “Cava”: follow this sign until you arrive at the grotto.
