An itinerary through the history of the art of A. Biancini around the town.
Description: Since 1995 Castel Bolognese has placed important sculptures by Angelo Biancini (1911-1988) in its piazzas, streets and avenues, which have integrated the cultural heritage already present in the public places of the town. These are bronze works that belonged to his heirs and are now entrusted to his birth town. The works that decorate and make Castel Bolognese precious represent an ideal itinerary into the art history of Biancini, following his artistic evolution from the 1930’s until his death. When walking around the town it is possible to admire statues amongst the trees of the avenues, works that make the main piazza more beautiful and sculptures marking the town gates.
They are all unique pieces, tests of fusion and multiples that went side by side with other pieces that over the years were stratified in the Castel Bolognese district. Thanks to the numerous works there is now an artistic itinerary that concerns some of the most important parts of the town, such as the entrance to the old city centre, the piazza and loggia of the Town Hall, the church of S. Sebastiano. His works are mainly all round sculptures of considerable size and have been placed on special bases inserted into small raised flower beds with surrounding plants and lighting. To the already existing works such as the bronze tree of the monument to the mine clearer, the derelicts of the Town Hall courtyard and the panel in commemoration of Armando Borghi, today we can see the addition of other works that are fundamental stages in the artist’s life. For example, a replica of the Mother of the legionnaire at the church of San Sebastiano, a 1935 work; the “Campanaro” with owl, an enigmatic 1957 bronze placed on the via Emilia; “il Montone”, a modern 1972 sculpture at the Bassi school. In the piazza, together with other works, there is also a Don Minzoni of the monument by Argenta.
