Historical origins: The association "C'era una volta il ricamo" (Once upon a time was embroidery) was founded many years ago with the precise aim of studying the history and tradition of embroidery, the design and creation of original pieces, the research and analysis of antique products, exhibitions and embroidery courses. The brilliant results have been achieved by reaching the set objectives such as extension of basic embroidery techniques and laces including tombolo, modano and Aemilia Ars. The embroidery of the association has been printed in the pages of the most famous women’s magazines (Rakam, Ricamare, etc.). The association brings forward a tradition that goes back centuries and to the “schools” of the Lamone valley. Especially in Brisighella and Fognano, made to order works were carried out for the refined collections in shops in big cities such as Florence, Bologna, Milan and even London. To be remembered is the illustrious artist Giuseppe Ugonia (1881-1944) who collaborated with these “artists of the needle” by creating designs especially for embroidery.
