Historical Origins: In 1959 members of the Tourist Assosiation, decided to organize a Festival to promote this geniune product of the Lamone Valley, that grows in the hilly areas near Brisighella and Fognano. Olive trees have been grown in this area since ancient times: an evidence emerged during digs carried out at Pieve Thò crypt (X century), where an olive-press of the Roman period was found.
The Festival is organized to promote and evaluate the local products such as extra virgin olive oil of Brisighella, the "Brisighello", and the fine "Nobil Drupa", whose quality is recognized by the European Community as a DOP (Protected Denomination of Origin) product and is served in many Italian and foreign restaurants.
