Historical Origins: At Brisighella, on the first Sunday of November, there is the typical festival that invites everyone to "be a pig". This feast brings back to the old ritual taking place in the farmyard of every house with the slaughtering of the hog and the processing of its meat by the butcher. This event animated by music, folk games and performances, offers to the lovers of good food the chance to try many local tasty dishes: pork scraps ('ciccioli'), different kinds of hams and sausages, salami and a sweet home made pie prepared with the blood of the hog (the 'migliaccio'). Pork meat will be processed and sold by local butchers.
This festival refers to a religious ritual typical of the area celebrating S. Anthony Abate, patron of the animals especially of the Pig: the day of the "sacrifice" of the hog in every farmhouse of the Lamone Valley was a feast day, tasty soups and local desserts made children and adults.
