Saturday 4 and Sunday 5 September 2010

Argillà Italia market-fair will be held on September 4th and 5th in Faenza, one of the world capitals of majolica. The International Show-Marketwill be held along the streets and the square  of the Historic District, with 187 selected exhibitors from Italy, Austria, France, Germany, Great Britain, Nederland, Spain, Hungary, Romania, Poland. Each exhibitor will have its own stand where selected public of art collectors, experts, and tourist  can admire the superb exhibition of ceramic art and crafts: vases, sculptures, jewellery.

Poland is the nation chosen as the guest of honour at Argillà Italia 2010, through a programme of events and moments dedicated to Polish cities and ceramics artists: Faenza experience: exhibition on Alicjia Patanowska and Monika Griecko, Retrospective exhibition on Leszek Nowosielski, Traditional ceramics by craftsmen from the city of Bolesliawic, Works by young ceramicists selected by the Academy of Wroclaw. There will be an important event called La Gliniada (clay-fest): a parade of "clay men” along the streets and through the squares of the town.

Argillà Italiaoffers a rich calendar of events during the weekend. PILLOLE DI ARGILLÀ (DROPS OF ARGILLÀ) a 36-hour exhibition during which each ceramics artists at the event chooses one work to represent his or her production. L'ARTE DELLA TERRA E DEL FUOCO (CRAFTS GALLERY: THE ART OF EARTH AND FIRE) a collection of beautiful Tuscan ceramic arts, TRIBUTE TO MARCELLO FANTONI leading master of Italian ceramicists, TERRACQUA a representative exhibition of the French Association of the Cities of Ceramics. 

THIS IS NOT A PLATE: YOUR HERITAGE, YOUR LANGUAGE, YOUR CULTURE. An international project for the teaching of human rights, integration, and peace through art and the preservation of linguistic and cultural heritage through the universal language of art, music, and communications media conceived of by the London-based Moving Universe. “This is not a plate” is expressed through different tools: ceramic works, show-events, a book, the “Remember me” bowl, development labs, video on the road, and a 36-month world tour with the first stop, after the presentation in Nove, at the MIC in Faenza, with a preview at Argillà.

MEETINGS WITH VILMA VILLAVERDE. The Argentinean ceramicist, one of the most important South American artists in this sector, illustrates her work and techniques during a meeting and workshop at the Museo Carlo Zauli MCZ - 1 - 3 September 2010.

Many conferences will be held in this period, for example one on the development of porcelain in Italy,  and one to  present the European Association of the cities of ceramics.

An event will be dedicate to children where the youngest can play with clay and explore the world of artistic creativity.

Other shows: MONDIAL TORNIANTI (WORLD POTTER’S WHEEL CHAMPIONSHIP) – POTTER’S GOLD: organized by Ente Ceramica Faenza, it will bring the best potters in the world to the Piazza del Popolo in the heart of Faenza to compete for the coveted first place of this potter's wheel championship.
Open-air performance by Tuscan ceramics artists Alberto “Caba” Cavallini and Terry Davies, working, together with the students of the Istituto Statale d’Arte G. Ballardini of Faenza, on the firing of ceramics works, in wood-fired kilns made of ceramics fiber or glass bottles. RAKU firing by masters of the Rakuriosi event by Arturo Saccone.

ARGILLÀ – ITALIA develops the characteristics of the French mother-manifestation held in Aubagne, near Marseille, and is organized by the Municipality of Faenza in collaboration with Associazione Italiana Città delle Ceramiche.

Faenza is located on Via Emilia and the A14 motorway (Bologna-FAENZA-Rimini-Ancona), south-east on the continuance of the A1 motorway Milano-Bologna.
